Preparing and Planning with a Survey   A good move begins with a planning and a survey of your household posessions for the upcoming move. To accomplish this, Charlotte Van takes the following steps:

• We estimate weights and measurements of possessions and take note of special needs, such as custom crating. • We explain modes of transportation: ocean shipping, air shipping, etc. and help you choose appropriately. • We consult with you to determine a schedule for packing, loading, and storage pick-up. • We explain International Transit Insurance and why it's important to know the value of your belongings when moving internationally.

Packing Charlotte Van and Storage has experienced and professional packers, and we use proven methods and materials:

• Appropriate items are carefully wrapped in paper packs, then covered again with corrugated cardboard.  • Wood surfaces are covered with foam or bubble wrap, then with corrugated cardboard.  • Laydown wardrobes reduce wrinkling with layers of tissue paper between articles of clothing.  • Dishes, lamp shades, and other delicate items are carefully and precisely packed.

Loading We conduct a complete inventory, with an accurate description for Customs. For ocean transport, if your shipment fills a steamship container, we will pack and seal the container at your residence.

If all or part of your shipment is less than a steamship container, we'll pack your goods into wooden liftvans, and truck them to the appropriate port of exit, where they will be loaded into a consolidated steamship container.

For air shipments, we bring appropriately sized tri-wall containers to your home, where they are carefully packed, then sealed, and trucked to our warehouse for storage, or delivered directly to the airport.

Shipping We have contacts in the shipping and moving industries all over the world, and are able to arrange for the professional and reliable delivery of your belongings to literally any place on earth. We prepare and review all shipping documents: airway bills, ocean bills of lading, inventories, insurance certificates, etc. We select and arrange for the appropriate means of trucking your shipment to the port or airport of embarkation, well before the departure date. During each part of the shipment process, we monitor the details and track shipment process via our sophisticated global computer systems.   Customs Mayflower prepares all required shipping documents for the destination agent. You are responsible for all customs documentation. Any duties, taxes, or government fees that are assessed will be collected from you at the destination, at which point you will secure your customs clearance.   Delivery Your destination agent will call you to schedule a date to deliver your household goods.
