Charlotte Van & Storage Co. is celebrating 60 years in business! Since its start in 1955, Charlotte Van has had a rich history. After returning from WWII, brothers Frank and Marion Watson, with the help of their father, purchased the assets of a small moving company in Macon and re-named the company “Watson Brothers Moving and Storage.”

To grow the business, Frank contacted Mayflower Van Lines to become an agent for them. Besides this powerful partnership, Frank and Marion got their names ‘out there’ from their forward-thinking marketing and sales efforts.

When an opportunity came up to move to Charlotte, the brothers jumped on it. Once they arrived, they rented a small 5,000 sq. foot bare-bones warehouse—it didn’t even have a phone line! After some time had passed, the brothers were able to build out the warehouse and re-branded their business as “Charlotte Van and Storage Co. Inc.”

By 1960, Charlotte Van and Storage had outgrown its small warehouse. Taking a leap of faith, the team bought a lot and built a 20,000 sq. ft facility for their business. This time, the facility was state-of-the-art—quite the upgrade from their first location.

In 1967, the company moved again. This time, the team settled into a four acre lot and the first tilt up concrete building in Charlotte. And the business services expanded to match. Besides moving and storage, the brothers also did rigging, tradeshow drayage, distribution services, and commercial warehousing.

Since then, Charlotte Van & Storage has continued to grow and develop into the full-service moving company that it is today. We are the premiere moving company in Charlotte, ready to handle all of your residential and commercial moves, as well as providing extensive options for storage, logistics, and specialized moving.
